Sony Bank Participates in "Climate & Children Supporters" to Prevent Global Warming and Support Developing Countries

December 17, 2008

Sony Bank Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Financial Holdings, announced its participation in the "Climate & Children Supporters," a program that assists areas frequently damaged by natural disasters caused by the changing climate.

"Climate and Children Supporters" is comprised of corporations that support children in developing countries damaged by natural disasters through the purchase of emissions. This initiative not only prevents global warming, it also provides a donation to UNICEF with each emissions purchase. Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation provides the platform for the program, through which Sony Bank will support a water and sanitation program in the Republic of Mozambique. The bank will donate ¥2 million annually for three years to UNICEF, as well as purchase emissions through its carbon offsetting investment trusts, enabling Sony Bank's customers to participate in environmental initiatives.

As an environmentally friendly Internet bank, Sony Bank will continue to promote environmental initiatives.
