Sony Life to Begin Offering Discount Rider for Nonsmokers and Others in Excellent Health

Sony Life Insurance Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned life insurance subsidiary of Sony Financial Holdings, will commence sales of a Discount Rider for Nonsmokers in Excellent Health on November 2, 2009. This new offering is in line with Sony Life's efforts to enhance its product lineup to precisely meet diverse customer needs. The rider can be added to family income insurance (including riders and special provisions of living standard insurance). One of three insurance premium rates—the rate for nonsmokers in excellent health, nonsmokers in normal health or smokers in excellent health—is applied to reduce insurance premiums, according to the policyholder's health and smoking status. To enhance customer convenience, Sony Life will also raise the maximum policy amount for self-reported applications from ¥15 million to ¥30 million.
