Sony Life Insurance Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned life insurance subsidiary of Sony Financial Holdings, has designated August 10, the anniversary of its founding, as "Volunteer Day." On this special day in particular, all employees are encouraged to consider and implement activities that benefit the community. Rather than limit such activities to a single day, Sony Life regards throughout August as the month to consider, implement and intensify volunteer activities.

  1. Volunteer Day
As a good corporate citizen, Sony Life believes that each of its employees' proactive contributions to society will earn the ongoing trust and support of the community and customers, and that continuing such initiatives will help to expand the circle of trust and confidence out into society. In the year ended March 31, 2004, Sony Life designated August 10, the anniversary of its founding, as Volunteer Day, all employees are encouraged to consider and implement activities that benefit the community. This year, volunteer activities were conducted on August 7, 2009.

  2. Voluntary Clean-up on Volunteer Day

  3. Blood Donation

  5. Lifesaving Lecture
On August 13, 2009, the first of four lifesaving lectures was conducted by local fire department representatives for employees at Sony Life's Aoyama and Nakano Sakaue offices. The course covers such topics as cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPM), the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), assistance for choking victims and methods of stemming blood flow. Such courses should help employees to help people in distress by taking advantage of the growing number of AEDs in public places to offer lifesaving support.
