Sony Bank Distributes its Foreign Exchange Rates through the AppliCast Function on BRAVIA LCD Televisions

July 30, 2008

Sony Bank Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Financial Holdings, today announced its distribution of foreign exchange rates through AppliCast, an information viewing function on the BRAVIA LCD televisions produced by Sony Corporation ("Sony").

Sony has introduced AppliCast as a way to gain additional enjoyment from televisions and benefit from the increasing penetration of broadband Internet connectivity. For example, using a BRAVIA television equipped with AppliCast and connected to the Internet, a viewer can call up various types of information such as weather forecast while watching television, simply by pressing the remote control's AppliCast key.

Sony Bank's foreign exchange rates, which are closely linked with the markets and updated essentially 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, will be the first finance-related content distributed via AppliCast. While watching television, users will be able to look up information on foreign exchange rates for the yen and U.S. dollar against eight foreign currencies (U.S. dollar, euro, pound sterling, Australian dollar, New Zealand dollar, Canadian dollar, Swiss franc and Hong Kong dollar).

Going forward, Sony Bank will keep taking advantage of the Internet to provide diverse products and services.

Note: BRAVIA is a registered trademark of Sony Corporation, and AppliCast is a trademark of Sony Corporation.
