Sony Assurance Inc, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Financial Holdings, announces the revision of its SURE lineup of medical and cancer insurance policies, effective November 1, 2007, to better meet the needs of its policyholders. Sony Assurance will begin canvassing for applications for the new SURE policies on its website and via advertisements from August 27, 2007.
Sony Assurance began offering SURE policies in June 2002. These medical care insurance policies offer extensive cancer insurance and the industry's first rider offering half-price premiums for policyholders who have reached their 60th birthday.
The current SURE policy revisions involve a rider that doubles the maximum number of days of hospitalization covered for policyholders aged 60 or older, meeting risks associated with patients' extended longevity. Furthermore, a bone marrow donor* support rider provides a uniform ¥100,000 payment and allows policyholders at the time of underwriting to select plans covering a number of hospitalization claim payment options for different numbers of days of hospitalization, thereby minimizing the economic burden that policyholders may face when their income declines during hospitalization for bone marrow donations. In addition, for each of its plans Sony Assurance has extended coverage to include same-day in-out hospitalization to meet changing societal needs.

Sony Assurance operates under the slogan of "Feel the Difference," which describes its goal of providing offerings that differ from those provided by other insurance companies. The company seeks to provide customers with valuable products and services that anticipate the needs of the changing times. The current revisions to its SURE medical and cancer insurance offerings are one example of the ways in which Sony Assurance continually seeks to meet policyholders' expectations, as well as the needs of society, with increasingly advanced products.
