Sony Bank Inc., an 88.0%-owned subsidiary of Sony Financial Holdings, announces its introduction of RSA FraudAction® to enhance security and ensure a stable transaction environment for its customers. RSA FraudAction® is provided by RSA Security Japan Ltd. ("RSA Security Japan"), a subsidiary of RSA, the Security Division of EMC, located in Massachusetts, the United States.
RSA FraudAction® is an anti-phishing* system. Under the protection of RSA FraudAction®, as soon as a phishing site is detected, the RSA Anti-Fraud Command Center goes quickly into action, eliciting the cooperation of the site's Internet service provider and portal site to close down the site and shut off site access. Introducing this service enables Sony Bank to force phishing websites quickly into inaction 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Sony Bank uses VeriSign extended validation (EV) secure socket layer (SSL) certificates** to protect its customers against phishing attempts and quickly assure customers of site authenticity. The introduction of RSA FraudAction® raises the level of anti-phishing security and enhances the safety of Internet banking.
Sony Bank will continue to provide customers with information on maintenance and further enhancements to ensure a high level of security.
*Phishing is an illegal scam that uses hoax e-mails or other communications purporting to be from a trusted institution to steal a user's identity and account information for fraudulent purposes.
